BEHIND THE STORY with PHIL WHITMORE
“BAD, BAD BUTTERCUP”

This story was originally called “DANGEROUS DAISY”.

It was originally just about an evil cow of death (as most stories are) but somewhere along the line this was changed to become a zombie pantomime cow of death.

I think this was because, I was thinking about adapting the series as a live-action TV show, and I was wondering how they’d realise the cow.

I’ve never been a fan of CGI, always preferring the more artistic style of models, animatronics & puppets, and yes, if this show was live-action, it’d be two guys in a pantomime cow-skin.

The Modern Army was basically, my version of Doctor Who’s UNIT.

Because its so rewarding to see (or in this case, hear) lots of “shoot-em-up” soldiers being killed by the “Monster of the Week.” (LOL)

Not a lot of people know that, but Major Jump was played by my dad, and Mavis Finch was played by my mum. (Rock n Roll!).

And yes, this is the “Mr Custa” story that has Zombie sheep in it.

“Baaaaaah… bang!”
