BEHIND THE STORY with PHIL WHITMORE “THE MILLENNIUM BUG” This story, not surprisingly, was first drafted in the year 2000. And, like all of the original 14 Mr Custa radio shows that I wrote, it was originally conceived & written to be an animated cartoon series. I’m happy to say that now, in 2020, all five episodes of “The Millennium Bug” was completed as an animation by Daniel Llewellyn. It’s a “meet the gang” story, where we are introduced to the lives of Mr Custa, Sia, Brok & Fly. Its also a “Kaiju” story, with the fact that it’s the Millennium Bug added on, to make it more “contemporary”. Obviously, this story wasn’t made until 2008, so the Millennium Bug was like, really late! But this being a sci-fi series, it was changed to the year 3000. The plot-line whereby Sia becomes a Godzilla monster was originally conceived as an idea for a short story called “Mutation”, and the scene whereby our heroes are stuck in a prison cell with the walls closing in was just too good an opportunity to miss. Because I really wanted to see these heroes squashed! No, really, they’re cartoon characters, they’re indestructible.
